That beautiful dining table, extra bedroom set, or inherited cabinet may have value even if it no longer fits your home. But how much could you actually receive by consigning it? The answer depends on what the piece sells for, your agreed consignment percentage, and any applicable account fees. At Cadie's Corner in Hattiesburg, we want you to understand those details before your furniture arrives.
Start with today's resale value
The original purchase price is useful background, but it does not determine what a buyer will pay today. Condition, craftsmanship, brand, size, style, and local demand all influence the selling price. A sturdy, clean piece that fits comfortably in a South Mississippi home may appeal to more shoppers than a much larger piece that needs repairs.
Sentimental value matters to you, and we respect the stories behind your furniture. Resale pricing also needs to reflect what current shoppers are willing to pay. Our team determines pricing after reviewing and inspecting approved pieces.
Understand the split before you consign
Our published standard term is 90 days. During the first 90 days, 60% of the net sales price goes to Cadie's Corner and 40% is credited to the consignor when the item sells. Net sales price means the final selling price less sales tax and buyer's fees.
For illustration, if an item has a net sales price of $500 during the standard term, the consignor's 40% share is $200 before applicable account fees. That is an example of the calculation, not a price estimate or a promise that a particular piece will sell.
If you choose the optional additional 30 day extension, the split changes to 70% for the store and 30% for the consignor. On the same hypothetical $500 net sale during that extension, the consignor's share would be $150 before applicable account fees. Confirm the terms for your pieces with our team and review the complete Consign With Us policy before drop off.
Account fees and the final selling price matter
New consignors open their account in person with a valid government issued photo ID. A one time $10 setup fee is deducted from the first sales. Active accounts also have a $5 annual maintenance fee, as described in our full policy.
Cadie's Corner determines pricing and promotional inclusion. Storewide sales can affect an item's final selling price, so your share is calculated from the actual net sale rather than the original price tag.
Give your furniture its best first impression
You cannot guarantee a sale, but you can help us assess your pieces accurately. Clean furniture, complete sets, working drawers, and clear photos make it easier to understand what you have and whether it may fit our showroom.
- Send photos of the whole piece, its sides, and any flaws.
- Include measurements, the brand, and the age when known.
- Gather matching chairs, table leaves, shelves, and hardware.
- Mention repairs, odors, or damage before moving the item.
- Wait for approval before bringing furniture to the store.
Consider the work our team handles for you
Your consignment share is one part of the decision. Consignment also gives your furniture showroom space, thoughtful styling, marketing, and a team to answer shopper questions and handle the sale. That can be helpful when you are downsizing, settling an estate, refreshing a room, or clearing furniture out of storage.
If an item does not sell, the pickup or donation choice recorded at drop off and the deadlines in our policy apply. Consignment creates an opportunity to earn from your furniture, but it does not guarantee a sale or a specific payout.
